When you decide that you want to go traveling, there will be a number of things that you need to get organized from packing to visas and plenty in between. Something (or rather, someone) that can really help when it comes to making sure you have everything booked correctly is a travel agent. However, with over 100,000 travel agents in the USA, it might seem like a daunting task trying to find one that will be right for you. Here are some tips on how to find a travel agent who will help you.
Word Of Mouth
One of the best ways to find a travel agent – or any kind of service – is by word of mouth. If you know and trust someone who has used a travel agent in the past, you can ask them what their experience of them was like. This will give you a good idea of who to use and who to avoid. Another way to find out who the good travel agents are is through asking on a forum of social media page for recommendations. Be aware that some of these might come from the agent themselves, or people who are their friends or family, but it will still give you some names to research. You’re looking for someone who is up to date on all legislation including GDPR and which countries are safe to travel to, as the handling of your data and details securely throughout the entire process is reassuring for you regarding whatever plans you have. and someone who will understand everything you tell them about your ideal trip. It’s also important to get on well with your travel agent, as otherwise you might find it difficult to change things if you need to.
When you find a travel agent you like and who can book you all the flights and accommodation you need, it can be tempting to just leave it there and book with them. However, you might be spending more than you need to that way, and it is best to get at least three quotes. That way you can compare the service you will be getting as well as the prices given, and you can make a judgment call about who it will be best to use. It’s not always going to be the cost that gives you your answer, of course, but this will usually have some bearing on the final outcome.
Find A Specialist
If you want to travel somewhere a little off the beaten track, or you want to do something unusual when you arrive, it’s best to find a travel agent who has specialized in that area. A general agent will be able to help you up to a point, but if you are working with a specialist, you are going to get a better deal all around and be able to do everything that you want to do while you’re away. For example, if you want to go on safari, it is far better to speak to someone who books safaris every day than someone who is more general and may not know the best people to speak to.
