And while you might like to hope that these people always wash their hands after using the bathroom or cover their mouths when they cough or sneeze, these are chances that you shouldn’t be willing to take. This includes almost all surfaces of planes, trains, and buses. After you have touched something, make sure you either wash your hands or use hand sanitizer to help get yourself clean once more.
Give Your Immune Systems A Boost
To help you fight off any unknown bacteria or germs, one of the best things you can do is to give your immune system a bit of a boost. For the best results, this should be done both before you even start your travels as well as while you’re on your journey. To do this, Meredith Rosenberg, a contributor to Travel Channel, recommends taking a lot of vitamin C in the days leading up to your trip, especially if you’ll be traveling by plane. On airplanes, the air you’re breathing in recycled, which means all the germs people bring on with them just keep circulating back throughout the plane. With more vitamin C in your body, you’ll be better able to fight off these germs and avoid getting sick.
Keep Yourself Hydrated
Another great way to help your body fight off infections and stay healthy is to keep yourself hydrated. Dayvee Sutton, a contributor to U.S. News and World Report, shares that it’s so easy to get dehydrated while traveling. Because of this, you’re going to need to make a conscious effort to keep up your water intake. And depending on where you’re traveling to, you’ll want to be sure you’re drinking filtered, safe water, too.
