3 Tips For Getting The Most Out Of Your Mini Fridge While Traveling

When you’re traveling, food is going to be a big daily expense. But if you’re staying in a place that has a fridge, or even just a mini fridge, there are all kinds of ways that you can use this to your advantage to help you save money on food. As long as the fridge has been well maintained and is working well, this amenity can help to save you a lot.

To help you see how this can be accomplished, here are three tips for getting the most out of your mini fridge while traveling.

Bring Your Own To-Go Containers

To get the maximum cost savings out of your mini fridge, you’re going to want to make as much of your food as you can. However, not much food is going to fit in your mini fridge. And, for many people, a big part of traveling somewhere new is having new experiences with food in the area. So if you’re wanting to eat out, you can use your mini fridge to help you save some of your leftovers for future meals to help you cut down on costs.

The trick here is to bring some of your own to-go containers. Most to-go containers that you get from restaurants aren’t airtight. But if you store food in containers that aren’t airtight, the food won’t last you for very long. Knowing this, you should try to transfer your food from their to-go containers to airtight containers before storing them in your mini fridge.

Make Use Of Binder Clips

Even with the small space that is available in mini fridges, you can use certain tools to your advantage to make the most of this space.

One small item that can be of great use to you in your mini fridge is binder clips. With binder clips, you can section off areas of the wire shelves so that things like drinks won’t roll all around the bottom and take up more space than is necessary. You can also use binder clips to hang bags of food so that you’re using more of the vertical space and less of the horizontal space.

Know What You Can Put In The Freezer Section

Depending on the length of your trip, you might be cautious about what you keep in the freezer section of your mini fridge versus the refrigerated section. But in many cases, you can keep things that were in the fridge in the freezer to help you have more available space.

Generally, the only things you wouldn’t want to keep in the freezer section of your mini fridge are salad and eggs. Anything else can easily be kept in the freezer section so that there’s more room to keep all foods cold while you’re traveling.

If you want to get the most use out of the mini fridge available to you while traveling, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you with this.
